Fertiliser woes

Not a big user, only ordered 8x600kg bags of 20.10.10, delivered12th April and kept in shed till today, first 2 bags had set almost solid all the way through not rock hard and managed to break it up enough to get it out of the bag with a piece of 3x3 wood but took about 20 mins.
Next 2 bags hard again so cut across bottom and up sides but both inner liners snapped as weight was all on these as fert wouldn't run out, so both bags now in spreader still in inner bags, what a pain that was.
Is there any comeback, assume other 4 bags will be the same?

To be honest that would be par for the course for carried over fertilizer, and I have seen plenty the same, its cakey. Couple of bumps on the concrete and lay the bag over with the forks onto its side a couple of times.
They may give you an allowance, worth a try, but it will spread.

If you drive fast enough it breaks up in hopper and lumps no longer seen.

Most bags survive being dropped from 18 inches onto concrete.

Not 24 inches though - a friend told me.

I had a bag with part solid , I spoke to manager , he said bring it back. I brought it back , they weighed it and refunded the weight. The yard man was not impressed

Always give bags a good couple of thumps on ground before loading.. very rare to have big lumps now, if I forgot to thump nearly always have a lump. Odd bag split over the years but so much less hassle than bloody great lumps..

They will want the serial numbers off the bags
I had some lumpy Yara I rang them and they sent me some more for free

For a small farm we had a lot of lumpy blend fert over the years but got the message and moved to Yara. We were fairly skilled at dealing with the lumpy bags. The telehandlers won’t let you drop the bags on the ground so we were told to use a hook and pull the bag over. Then roll it around. Easier with a pivot steer. We only buy Yara now. Just had a speared torn bag which makes it a bit unsafe, and liner cut. No quibble dealing with the issue. Beats unloading an artic, and then having to load it all again to go back. I wonder if some blenders store under cover per the instructions WE get

As said above roll the bags with the loader, it gets rid of most of the lumps.

I have a problem with diamond urea/sulfur blend this year, lots of small very hard lumps all the way through it,that chokes up the grids,it was delivered in march this year,on inspection the bags are stamped 2018,I am still waiting on a response from my supplier????

I have the same problem with origin 20 10 10 this year. First 2 bags were a problem as I didn't realise and once the bottom is cut your committed
Lots of hitting and prodding and got it spread.
All the bags now I giving them a good rolling forwards and backwards and dropping.

We call it Diamond Dust Fert, shocking stuff. Looks like you're lime spreading the amount of dust.
