Do you know who sells such gates, we had some installed here when we had a road go through the place, I need a pair but am not sure where to get them from. All the stuff I see is utter junk and they dont seem to last 5 minutes

Bateman gates are lighter made than Ritchie gates for sure, probably as light or at least on par with IAE, very shiny too but should still do the job they are made to do. Wouldn't want them to receive too much grief from cattle though....
I ordered some 12ft Ritchie ones after been told that when they turned up I could pick them up with one hand

So talk me through field gates, it would be interesting to price up the material plus galv cost to see what would be left. Perhaps a premium gate built to last may have a small market? When I see a bent gate the welds on the intermediate uprights are often broken off the bars, better to have the bars going through holes in a flat bar? Already do quite a bit of fab work. Galvanising going up 9.5% in the new year….
Main problem with new field gates is the thickness of steel has been cut until there's none left. I have a fabricator make me odd size gates and he won't make anything unless it'll withstand a bull 😅. Cost isn't much more than the big manufacturers. Since there isn't any middle men taking a cut. Obviously he can't compete with the big boys considering their buying power and own galv tanks.

Interesting. Ritchie must have gone very much the other way then, used to have the choice between Ritchie and IAE and always chose Ritchie as they were far heavier/stronger.
I did screw the lad down on price so maybe he got some lightweight ones. But he told me Richie light gates are same as Bateman/IAE. Nothing wrong with the Ritchie gates they will do the job bought for field gates
