Fieldbee or FDJ?

I have no experience with FDJ.

I use Fieldbee RTK (manual steering) and I am very satisfied about the stability and possibilties.

I've seen the Fieldbee Autosteer in operation by a colleague farmer and it works very nice, accurate and smooth.

I installed a fieldbee auto steer system, not that tricky, you can even test the app on an android phone or tablet before you buy anything, in the end the computers stuff is the app after a bit of setup.

so while it’s not plug and play if you want auto steer it has to be calibrated, my guess anyone at the age of 15- 30 could do that bit and leave you to mess with the app when your in the field.

I will say if you do not like tablets and apps then it maybe better if you give all auto steer systems a miss, non of them are fool proof, all need user input to get them working, every time you use them.
Like setup for a job set the job select the fields set the implement, set the working width if it’s not already listed, then you have to pick from a number of options of the type of AB line you want to use, straight curved etc etc,
Then you have to record that AB line in the field then the app fills out the rest of the runs for you but you may want to tweak it move it so, if your drilling with a 3m drill and are tram lining you need to add your half overlap maybe, this can be done but only manually and you may want to tweak the overlap with the first AB line run so you don’t get to much overlap or you want to get extra. It can all be done but a lot of stuff is manual, but when you get past that first bit the tractor will drive you up and down all day, you can even go and put all the tramlines in first if you so wish, as the steering will do the matching.
My tramline counter was acting up at the end of the season, so I disconnected it and manually selected the tramlines when I needed them, and did all the runs in the field then turned it off and drilled the rest, the FieldBee app numbers the runs so for me it’s every 8 runs is a tramline so once I get to my first tramline I noted the run number and worked out which was my next run number that needed a tramline and did them right across the field.

if your considering fieldbee then try the app, and watch their videos on YouTube

Thank you, I have had a Trimble 500 for many years ( getting on for 20) but just use it to show me where on a run I have run out of fert or spray,as have a manual on/of switch.never used it to keep tram lines for next time or anything as complicated. The worst thing with it is when I come back from filling the drill it can be up to half a metre moved while I was away. But the biggest fault is the screen now resembles an etch o sketch with black lines and big blobs on it, can still see them when switched off so presume the sreen is caputted.
Thinking of a replacement and thought may be worthwhile one of these with own rtk. probs don`t need that accuracy but the price of the big brands is a nono for my small patch of land.

One advantage of fieldbee is the tablet or phone you need, it just a standard tablet while it has to hit minimum spec.
So replacing it is simple and the premium app comes with cloud backups to the FieldBee servers.
So if the worst did happen you can restore your app data.

Morning, we can do you a Trimble GFX-350 with NAV-500 for £'1'495 + VAT to replace your 500 or upgrade to a NAV-900 to give you better accuracy for £1'000 more

How far away from the base station can you work ? Asking as I have alot of small fields dotted about.
Hello,

Currently around 5-6km but there is a longer range base becoming available but im not sure of how legal that will be in the UK and on what frequency it will transmit.
Best bet is the subscription service with RTKfnet whom we are dealers for as well
