we have a 23 foot passage to drive mixer wagon in but is being battered by these cold easterly winds does anyone have any good ideas of how to seal off these gaps to stop wind blowing all the bedding off of the cubicles but still leave easy to open to gain access
roller doors are a bit pricey
tinned doors are going to be too heavy and dangerous to controll when opening and shutting
sliding doors are going to slide into open soace so would be vulnerable when open

We are in the process of making a drop down 15'x17' door for the end of our feed passage,I'm going to use an electric hoist to lift it and wire it to a garage door remote so its always closed keeping birds Brock and cows out.(well that's the plan but the feckin welders broke again :( )

eulb the only thing is leccy (remember the thread about mains or generator)

i put a secure cover on calf shed open side and tis the best windbreak i have ever used lets air in but not wind

i was contemplating during milking tonight, as you do, about a curtainsider canvas, take the tarp off and replace it with secure cover put the track above door way , fix scaff pole on end of it and pull along, drop bottom of pole over socket and clip into gate latch to make taut

what do you reckon or am i over complicating a bodge job

If you only want them to block the wind then how about those clear plastic strips that hang down. They are about 10 inches wide and you just walk or drive through them?

Do you have no electric at all?

Roller shutter doors have chain drives for manual use, could always use the drive unit.

we do have power in new shed but is not very good hence the need for more juice at some point to run parlour one day when installed
we have two roller doors at one end but they are bust and need new lathes as the ends are broken plus 23 foot is too wide for them as they bow too much in the middle
had a rep in yesterday he showed me some gale breaker brochures
a roller type door that constatinas up and down 7m wide 5m high was £2500  an extra £1400 for motorised
a curtain type for same gap was £1000o_O
