Filling IBCs on back of tractor with water. Anyone have experience with Ferroni pto pumps?

What is your water source, a roller pump is very susceptible to sand and cannot pull unless primed.
Many different pumps for different jobs
Source is a stream on our land. The Ferroni pump is advertised as self priming so hopefully no problems there. Hoses will have a filter on the inlet but take your comment on board.

Whats the flow rate on that?
Uncle used to have something similar and it would have taken a good while to fill an ibc. That was several decades ago though so things may have moved on somewhat🤣

I'm looking for a simple way of filling an IBC that is transported on my 3pt forklift. Found this Ferroni pump
Have family in Europe so not that worried about importing into UK, so was wondering if anyone has experience with them or can recommend alternative way.
roller vane (like that) pumps are usually supplied by gravity , not for sucking up from a source and they shouldnt be run much without liquid ie lubricant.
needs very clean water as well.

so looking here
The flow rate is stated as 180 lpm, IBC should take a couple (<6) of minutes.

the graph shows good head but.depends on the lift before the pump you will need .
and the rollers will wear and then suction is the first thing to suffer.
will need an appropriate filter on the end as grit or a stone will effect it

diaphragm pumps are better for sucking.

better to be using tractor diesel than petrol mind you

lol .
was just trying to explain how them roller pumps we used to have on the sprayers were slow to prime ,especially if totally dry.
The other pumps mentioned here are better/more suitable for a quicker job as theyre impeller /centrifugal pumps with a better pull or suck (:rolleyes: :giggle:)
and will tolerate 'little bits' and bobs in the soup :sneaky: better.

How often are you filling and how quick do you want to do it? Put this on a arm on front of tractor and don’t need to leave the seat!
Interesting pump, have reached out to them for a quote. This could be really practical as like you say I can drive the tractor in a ford and just lower the pump into the water from the seat.

Find an old sprayer PTO belt drive speed increaser centrifugal pump and mount that to the tractor with the plumbing so it won't drain the pump and the screen hanging just off the ground, you won't have to get out to fill if you can drive into the water.

For the low head you're talking about, an inverter powering an AC sump pump would work fine too, much cheaper than the hydraulic pump is going to be.

Just got the quote for the hydraulic pump, only £1845, so I think I'll pass on that. I can buy 13 of the Ferroni pumps for that amount so can break a few and still be better off. Will have a look at old sprayer pumps as mentioned on here.
