Filling in between sheds.

I have a 24’ space between two sheds both same height length. I’m cutting down some 20’ rafters to 12’ with new end plates. Shouldn’t be too taxing but if anyone has any hints? At the moment thinking make A frame i10mm too short and shim as necessary, as it would be much worse if it ended up being 5-10mm too long…

We are going to, sheds were built parallel but you never know. Too sunny to see the laser atm, will do a bit more this evening.
Progress so far….

Pick your narrowest gap and work dead size to that or slightly under- shim the rest.

Finger pack shims from your local profiler or drill and slot the holes in varying thicknesses work best.

Make one rafter and use that as your template for the remainder- you only have to set your purlin and end plates out once then.

Possibly consider some bracing in the end bay but make it fit afterwards as you don't know how square the sheds are to each other.

Good luck with it

Rafters fix to post, once I’ve cut a hole in cladding, and drilled holes.
I am trying to figure out how to fix gutter, the shed I’ve just looked at had an rsj an as eaves beam that the gutter rested on which seems a good way as it means you can also walk along it when needed.

It's really pretty simple.
Set up your fill in shed rafters with a horizontal plate on top of the rafters at each side ideally about a foot wide. Get a gutter folded to sit on these plates to catch the water from both your new roof and the old, this will also allow you to put the new roof at the same height as the adjacent roofs. You really want it wide enough to be able to walk along it with a brush.

Interesting, I think it might be a bit expensive at the moment with steel circa £1500/t, I need 60m total. Also with 180mm purlins I would like the gutter lip to be quite tight to sheets so probably 150mm deep, I can lift the gutter with the flat bracket that I need to fit to on the end of rafter.
