Really helpful comments thanks - it is only a couple of guys wanting to make a short film (they sent me the script and its only 2 pages!!) so not expecting to make too much - as you say though, something is better than nothing. :)

You don't know what these things can lead to that's how they started with us just a little bit of filming for some Welsh programme then the location bloke gets a foot in the door on a bigger project and remembers his old mate the nice farmer and you are quids in then :D

Stayed on a farm years ago where they had filmed part of Lorna Doone. The farmer took their money but complained he couldn't get any work done, gateways blocked with vehicles, scaffolding everywhere, people frightening his horses. They had this girl Catherine Zeta Jones or somesuch needing to ride one of his horses, so he had to be there to make sure she could get mounted and dismounted at the end of each scene, couldn't get any work done as he had to keep his hands clean.

I caught the Home and Away lady up my private track filming one day. She was most apologetic as she didn't realise it wasn't a public road. I said she could film anywhere she liked on my place for free.;)
