Finally, a high speed tractor with air brakes.

I've always admired the kit most of the rest of the world has access to with higher gears and good brakes. So,.....................now I have one. To dd/no-till of course. :)

Home made for sure. I put a 2 speed rear axle in it with 9.77:1 gears. The front axle is not driven, but is a widened Rockwell military axle without the gear head. I will have live hydraulics on it soon. I just use the power pack that is behind the cab for now to have hydraulics.

Wow, what an amazing machine! Congratulations. As someone who is a little 'challenged' in the workshop I am very impressed with your expertise.

Tracked sprayer looks very interesting - anymore pics of it ?

I have several, but can only find a few on the puter. I can get more if you have specific areas you'd like to see. The tracks were an option on the Redball 690 sprayer. They were made by a company that I thinkw as bought up by someone else, called Fargo. The track belts are goodyear 16" wide.

Here I ran it this spring for N app behind the Steiger. You can see the Sterling was undergoing its axle change in the background.

Here's about the only one I can find of the track frame. It was one the dealer took when we bought it. Very simple design. Can be easily copied.

Very interesting pictures

Do the tracks scuff a lot on headland turns ? Is your road transport speed limited by them ?

I bet the boom says very stable riding on tracks vs bags of air !

The tracks only scuff a noticeable amount when making very short corners like headlands etc. Turning while at speed or making the 180 to go back and forth, they do not do any more damage than tires.

I have not pulled it on the road behind the truck yet. But behind the JD 4840 and the Steiger tractors, I was able to go full speed, high gear with no issues. No real heat build up in the track belts, and that is on dry asphalt.

The Redball booms, especially these 132' width, are quite an advanced leveling and stabilizing system. They do very well even on rolling terrain. I am impressed enough with their performance, I mostly let my plans of putting small wheels on the wings go.

I like the simplicity of your Redball sprayer...we have a Gem trailed sprayer which has out-lived two other machines because it was well made and very simple and well built (no fancy boom levelling or electrics-just runs off two spools and a 12v input)..using a Steiger Cougar as a spraying tractor is something that I would ever have considered but I suspect in the US that you have not all been sucked into the UK concept that you have to be spraying your crops every ten to fourteen days (usually after a visit by your agronomist)

Here's a video from the drill's view of going down the road. Gotta put fenders on it someday. I will have some video later of the truck pulling the sprayer. The sprayer is hitched up to it now and wind permitting, I will spray in the morning.

Dont kid yourself Jim. We are quite trained to be out with the sprayer at every whim of the agronomist. I just "dont make it out there", as often as they'd like.:) The Cougar was just because I sold the JD and the Cougar was the smallest I have at the moment.

Any chance you could film it working in a field ? I'm interested to see how much crop the tracks run down on turns and how stable the booms are

Whats stopping you putting a set of Soucy track units on the bateman? I know they can do 50km/h because we looked at them brielfy about 3 yrs ago to go on the Magnum and I remember it was 50km/h. 4 x a tractor front wheel unit on the Bateman would be ideal?

don't need tracks on a Bateman - it travels fine in most conditions I want to spray in

a trailed sprayer would benefit greatly though so if they worked well tracks could be enough to tempt me away from a self prop and save some ££
