Have a new to me Jcb 536-60 trying to find the dam grease nipple on the bottom end of the main lift ram. Is it in some weird inaccessible place

Put boom in air. Climb up the rear of the machine with nothing to help you. Hook your leg up over the rear near side light cluster that’s covered in muck. Smack head on cab air con system and reach down into the dark abyss through the net wrap and straw. It’s somewhere down on the side of the boom. Get grease all over your hand and perhaps some on the joint. Fall off. Try to remember why you spent £70k for this privilege on a Saturday morning!

We've 3 jcbs and that nipple is in a different place on all 3, one is at the end of a pipe clamped to the ram, ones pipes out the back and is on the left hand side behind the panel, third one is on a short pipe mounted to the ram as well but on the top side of the ram.

Lift the boom right up go in between the wheel and the chassis behind the cab and look over the chassis it's on a pipe that runs up the main lift ram . Not easy to spot but easy enough to find once you know the area to look in

Yup, sits on the end of a little pipe that runs up alongside the ram on the cab side.

Breathe in to squeeze in there though, as the actress said to the bishop etc.

Good job .

Once had a neighbour phone me with the same question after 6 months of ownership he said he'd stuck his fingers in and there was plenty lube around the ram end but I suspect she'd be pretty dry inside 😉

even some of the mechanics didn’t know where it was, because I kept asking why the f**k it was squeaking and greasing what we thought was everything having come from manitou didn’t know. Was speaking to a good man and he said get a step ladder and look over the Back left. Job sorted
