Finding a ewes owner

I got a phone call last Wednesday asking if I was missing a ewe as a neighbour had found one in the road. Not mine, wrong breed for a start, so didn’t think any more of it. Another phone call Thursday morning, same thing but last seen exiting someone’s garden. Eventually found her, then lost her again. Given the name of a likely local owner. Friday morning, the same ewe weirdly appears at my yard gate. Coax her into a shed and ring the guy. She was still there that night and the next day he tells me she doesn’t look like one of his. I have her tag number, but how can I find out who her owner is?

Trading standards will have breeder's tag details, but might not be current owner
I wondered about that but very much doubt if she still belongs to her original owner. The guy who’s number I was given seems to be some kind of dealer, but when I asked if he wanted her number to check against his records, everything seemed to go a little vague!

Congratulations on your new mule! I hope she does you proud.

Must be worth a shout to your local "friendly" trading standards person...;) We`ve got ewes back to their rightful owner - even a "homing" swale that had set off on a 20 mile trip to her original heft!!:):ROFLMAO:

We found a lowland Tex X ewe on our hill when we gathered earlier on. I thought it looked like it belonged to a farm adjoining the hill, he came and had a look but couldn't find her tag no in his records.
Anyway I rang trading standards, but they had no records of the flock no., I got her individual no. and rang them again, they rang EID Cymru and checked for any movements, Yes, she was last moved in 2016 to the very same farmer that had come to look at her!!
She's home now

I do wonder if similar might happen here. The fact she’s not really a ewe to be proud of, I’m wondering if he just doesn’t want to admit that she’s his!

I’d love to, but not knowing her treatment history I’ve got no idea if she’s in withdrawal, and I’m not prepared to take that risk.
Declare as under withdrawal. If the bidding goes to a reasonable amount say you’ll donate the funds to a chosen charity if the auctioneer will match it too :ROFLMAO: The auctioneer will surely have to say yes or they won’t look a charitable sort etc. Might end up getting tidy charity money for her.

I like that idea, but how much withdrawal?
