Finished today, been pretty good, always problems but weather has been much better than last year, so thinks l, ll change or not, still lmb alot in march, normally get a spell of dryer weather then, not have as long a delay till the second lots starts, lmb the gimmers outside as apart from some tex x ones with singles they lmbed no problem and keep the beltex x texel tups, lmbs bigger at birth but cull one who's lmbs are far to bare headed and soft. That's the plan. Hope every one else is nearly done aswell.
Sell the sheep rent the land thats the plan this time every year.

Run shearlings separate from tupping till lambing. Have always run them with the ewes to keep things simple but i don't think it's doing them any good.
Lamb the ewe lambs in May instead of mid April after running with a teaser so they all come in one go. Be easier to check more often for a shorter amount of time and it will fit in with grass growth curve better.
I say that now but may have forgotten by November :X3: :ROFLMAO:

2 tooths that lamb as ewe hoggs are priority stock class, and should receive better feed than even replacement ewe lambs.

For simplicity I run them with the ewes here, but like you say production suffers.

Decent enough go here, been cold but no killing weather yet , the future is tips here for 21 days and thats it keep plenty replacments the price kf cull ewes is good so cull empties and only lamb for 3 weeks.
I have the tups in for four weeks currently, 17 days single sire mated and the rest with marked chasers. Only leave them out that long to check that all the solo tups have worked satisfactorily. Lambing done in 2 1/2 weeks this year, tightest ever. If I was mob mating, tups would be out three weeks. As said, better a handful of empties to boost cash flow in the new year than buggering about for an extra week or two lambing dribs and drabs.

I might use teasers and max of 21 days , to hell with stragglers .

Changes for next year?…Sell the fukin lot

I said that in the autumn with the way breeding prices went - would have been a great time to step off (both sheep and cattle)...

No idea wtf I would have done with myself if we had, but the way everything else has gone up in price it's looking more and more like it would have been the right thing to do

Next year I must remember to put the tups out in early November instead of December so that I don't feel so left out of all the lambing f**K up threads - that are now winding down just as I'm only getting warmed up for my f**k ups, and so that my lambing isn't just starting when you lot are (rather selfishly IMHO) posting pics of your last few ewes to go, already at the stage of reflection, and wistful dreaming about how successful next years lambing could be with a few minor changes.

Defo pulling tups out earlier, keeping in mind we had a wee lambing boost at the start of the second cycle. Think they must have been just going out when the tups when in. As others have said, with a teaser, you spend the 2nd cycle doing as much running as the first, but for a handful of ewes. Not worth the effort, other jobs start piling up.
Also no more early mob, weather is crap in March and now we're having to pull in those lambs to dose for nemo 🙄.

The upside is you will basically have the thread to yourself.
So Rant away, and vent all your woes !
You’ll feel much better!😂

Rather than raddle all the blue tups, leaving then free for 14 days then swap tups about and raddle from day 15 onwards. Means can Keep them seperate at lambing and get the older ones marked up earlier.
