Go for it rob. Just dont sell cheap. Get the logs bone dry and you have a premium product that is worth good money.
We had a log burner recently fitted in the house and the builder said they were fitting 4/ 5 a week so its certainly something people need, i'll probably save up and buy a processor, but i could do with getting fit so might do without for the moment

Have u done logs before? Just start with a chainsaw and splitter, until u cant keep up and then get a processor. There aint the money in the job imo to buy all the kit before getting the customers first

Hardly say the firewood kiln is free you still have to feed it with firewood which I would prefer selling to customers at £100 per m3. I have looked at it but unfortunately its not suitable for use in a smoke control area so instead I will be using a solar drying kiln claiming RHI and Fits.
john you put in a big boilr bit like farm 2000 and use all waste , saw dust , and all bits off cleaner and burn that to make the heat for kiln drying

I can only see the prices going 1 way. The woodburner is definalty the 'in thing' in many town houses and alike.

Problem is, like most industries, there are a lot of cowboy producers devaluing the product and making it hard to sell the product for what its worth. I am probably as expensive as anyone, but i no my costs and am willing to sit on my product and sell sensibly.

But yes I agree, there are only more stoves going in. People arent filling in fire places anymore.

Thats fine for normal people but this free kiln has been set up specifically to reclaim commercial RHI payments and as such you cannot use waste, saw dust and all bits off cleaner only approved wood from a RHI wood suppliers list who has proved that all his timber is from approved sustainable timber resources. Total red tape but if you get inspected and cannot prove the authenticity of supply then your RHI payments will be stopped and any previous unsubstantiated payments recovered. Personally I dont have a problem as all my timber is dried in a solar kiln although I will be improving the kiln to enable a commercial RHI claim to be made.

just use chainsaw and axe for the stuff atm, it'l be more of a hobby than work, thought i'd put my money in something worthwhile rather than getting pee'd up and spending money on old bikes, lol.

There's certainly more money to be made in old bikes, particularly of the brit sort. The world, his wife, his wife's sisters dog and his sisters dogs cousin is at the firewood game so there's a shortage of firewood. This has resulted in a stalemate in the market and escalating prices. So much so that firewood is really something to avoid unless you like slamming your fingers in a door(y)
