This happened locally this week. Couple vegan protesters outside butcher shop. Guy in the left runs the shop. Absolute class!! Note what looks like leather shoes and sheepskin coat being worn by protestors.

The irony is lost on those sorts...

Like the one on TV not that long ago from PETA banging on about how wearing wool is cruel to sheep... they sat through the whole interview making their case wearing a bloody leather jacket :ROFLMAO:

These vegans are an absolute pain in the arse...if they don’t want to eat meat then fine, don’t eat it. I can’t even fault you....but stop trying to ruin other people’s businesses, it’s absolutely disgraceful....I wouldn’t dream of trying to go to someone’s place of work and ruining their life’s work just because I didn’t agree with it

A really positive experience I had recently was with a couple who had been vegetarian for 37 years and who had quite literally looked up at all the aeroplane trails in the sky one day and realised how much environmental damage they were responsible for by choosing to eat in this way. They also sussed that sheep eat grass produced on land that couldn't grow anything else, at least round here. They are now meat eaters, including offal and positively proselytising the benefits to their many clients - an uphill struggle, I expect as they are alternative health therapists. Anyway they are now my butchered lamb clients.

My wife and I have been vegetarian for most of our lives but do feel sympathy for those who get upset when they send their lambs to slaughter.
It may be impossible for those people to give up their sheep farming, but if they could, it is true that humans are naturally vegetarian when born and do not need to eat meat.
Do you whinge that your celery isn’t green enough when it comes in the Tesco Delivery too? 🤦🏻‍♂️

We have an upper jaw full of teeth for a reason, more importantly Canine teeth.

No human has ever been ” born vegetarian”, we are all omnivores from birth. Some, a minority, make the lifestyle choice to be vegetarian, that is their choice, I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with people who do not respect my choice to be true to my natural inclination to remain an omnivore all my life and my choice to rear and eat meat.

Nice bit of red meat in your system would be good for your brain you might come out with something less ridiculous then

have attached 2 screenshots from a guy I went too school with but haven’t spoken too since school... he turned hardcore vegan at about 19 and looked like he was literally withering away last time I seen him 5/6 years ago ... one post is from him in 2018 and the other is from him a few weeks back... seems he saw the light eventually...

My mum was a vegetarian for about 8 years then got pregnant and just craved eating meat your body knows best isn’t natural to be missing out on any of your food groups

@Vegetarian as you seem to have used my comment as the springboard for your contribution, I will respond.

Firstly, you have completely misunderstood the purpose for my post which was to point out that once people started engaging in the sources for their food that they began to understand that it required a more nuanced approach than becoming vegetarian, vegan, piscatorian, fruitarian, carnivorous etc etc.

Statements to the effect that humans are naturally vegetarian give people who genuinely want to engage in finding a way to have sustainable global food production a bad name. All the fossil records show that we evolved as omnivores.

Telling people to just stop producing the thing that gives them their livelihood is a none starter! Agriculture has and always will evolve and respond to the needs of its dependent population. It doesn't do the by bring vilified and made a pariah.

So I've always loved animals and I got my first orphan lambs 3 years ago and they have grown into a flock of 12 sheep which I'm very proud of.
But... this year we had our first lambs that we'd bred ourselves and today we took three of them off to Slaughter.
I was dreading it anyway but I didn't think I'd feel so awful! The abbatoir was nice and peaceful and very small so I know they would have been respected but I just can't help but feel terrible for sending them off.

Is this a normal feeling? Does everyone feel like this the first time they send their animals to slaughter?
Please help, I just feel so upset!
