What was the first new tractor you or your dad or family bought, and do you still have it? the first new tractor my famlily bought was an s reg ford 3600 tractor with a lambourne cab back in 1979, and how at the time i wished it was a ford 4600 with the ford white roofed cab, but up to then i had used only fordson majors, a lot of work i did with the 3600, hard to believe now, and a lot of road work with them horrible drum brakes, and yes we still have it.

Uncle bought a spanking new DB995 selectamatic, she was and still is the love of his life. Spent most of it's life working daily until he bought a 1390 with a loader and then retired it to scraping duty. My cousins husband rescued it and restored her better than new in 2012/13 for their wedding and now nobody is allowed to drive it :ROFLMAO:

That's pretty special

I always think folks with pre-War tractors and still in their possession have a real bit of history

My Dad grew up in Essex and saw farmworkers who were horsemen and had to learn how to repair and maintain the US war support tractors that came in, so your's at 1932 predating it is pretty unique

One of these with a perkins in, 1977, had a 784 in 1980, not on the farm any more, shame really.

That was the first tractor I used on a regular basis, Cambridge rolling flat rolling harrowing in corn leading corn etc . Didn’t have a radio in either.
If it was cold there used to be a draft that blew up your leg from the brake and clutch pedals. Used to stick a rag in the hole

My dad would buy new stuff all the time in the 70s.had 330 acres at the time and 2000 fat pigs and recall him saying earning about £1000 a week, may be wrong but think it was about that.woud buy tractors every year and new machinery and had a huge grain drying system and storage too.how times change.and big interest rates at the time too.

Dad and Grandad had new stuff all the time. A new tractor every second year and a new van every year in between. First disc mower in the county, first Bomford Wuffler too. All on 33 acres and a bit of contract work.

The last brand new tractor Dad bought was a Massey 165. He kept it all his life and I now have it, all restored. Everything after that was ex-demo.
