First step in the fight back.

Regrettably I think there is no chance of farmers significantly influencing the direction of the NFU. The have an agenda driven by non farming members that isn’t going to change

A fresh start is the way but getting a consensus will be difficult. But, I think previous posts suggesting social media / things going viral etc could be the secret to getting it going - even for old farts like me
I will use the example of ukip.
Small amateur group who on the end made brexit happen by pressure.
Most of it was done by old farms as well !

You're quite right but there are some powerful forces to deal with , mainly the super markets who would undoubtedly up their game to make sure all their suppliers had an assurance paper trail for all their ingredients of their products
Well that would be good as it would mean the imported food they buying would have to meet our standards so up the cost of imported competitor foodstuffs

Have just read that FFA still have 6,500 members, if you feel there is the need for an alternative to the NFU why not work with them ?
Anyway, still waiting for someone to explain why a motion at the NFU AGM saying only active primary producers can be a member, is a non-starter.

FFA past press was not great at times.
Plus back the same point I made before, its sn established group which has now no longer fights for us.

A totally new group with no baggage is needed.

NFU motion wise...
Do it if you think it will work.
Trouble is lot of proper farmers no longer in the nfu, so they need some one to fight for them.

Rt have a failing business model anyway, taking money out of farmers pockets for no return, it’s not a sustainable way to run a business on there part.

them closing ranks won’t do any good either as all it does it put farmers backs up even more.

At the very start of all the noise that’s been made about rt they should have heard the alarm bells ringing and come running to us to see how they could make things right.

Unfortunately none of the rt management have attended a hearing test in recent times!

Then support a motion to the AGM that only active farmers be members.

With respect, there was a thread just like this a couple of months ago, and doubtless ones before that, everyone says yeah count me in and then it just fizzles out, i'm not sure what the point of such threads is tbh.
And do you honestly think they will a) entertain such a vote and b) kick out all those fee paying non farmers who they rely on and probably play golf with if they lose?

Like they do now with all their rainforest palm oil, soya and Ukrainian rape grown with neonicotinoids?

You called!

I’m supposed to be baling some hay on his land, probably next week. I’ll see if I can have a word with him on the subject, if he is there.
Might be handy if you had something written down in an envelope you could hand him, or for someone you meet to pass on to him. Have a private message with Clive or @Grass And Grain to see if you could include their contact details as they have done a lot of work on the subject and if your not sure what to wright they know what they are talking about and how to word it.
