First timer looking for some advice!

Thanks for the replies and advice once again. Sorry no pictures to post of the ploughs and unfortunately I don't have deep pockets for a TS86, if I did it would be the classic, 'all the gear and no idea!'

Don't go too slow! Certainly in any major competitions you have to go as fast as practicality allows to prevent time penalties. Far better firmness with a turn of speed

On heavy land I usually go about 1.25mph (2nd at 1000rpm on a 275) and around 1.75mph (14000) on light land. This is ploughing with YLs. On heavy land the trick is to prevent too much disintegration of the furrow slice and thus minimise the formation of "horse heads" and pockets. On light land a little more speed rounds the furrow tops instead of leaving them a bit sharp.

Which would be the best b275 for ploughing?
1. The earlier ones that had the hydraulic lever like the b250 (and depth control on a knob under the seat).
2. The second ones that had the hydraulic levers and depth control beside the seat.
3. The later ones that had the brake pedals come up higher and start on a key rather than a lever.

Mine is non depth control (Varitouch) but I run the plough on the depth wheel so I only want it to go up and down or stay up when required. The depth limit knob is screwed for maximum depth and stays that way. Why complicate the issue ? As for the brakes, mine work well enough to stop a four ton load on the road and retain their balance well so why is this an issue for ploughing ?

Ploughing with the ubiquitous Kv 14" 4f. TM125 on 600s. I am having trouble getting enough soil to fill the front fur up. Ive moved the plough over away from the ploughed ground to take a wider front furrow. I also am ploughing a shade deep at the front too to get more soil over. I know that is probably sacrilage to you guys, but what should I do apart from buy another tractor?

Try a furrow opener fitted to the rear landside, cheaper than swapping tractor

Try taking a narrower front furrow. I'm on 650's and the only way I can get it to match up (ish) is by taking a narrow front furrow. Would love a second tractor on narrow wheels just forploughing .

No it doesn't,
it says, classic 1960 to per Q cab ( approximately 1976 )

The Q cab is a definitive, convenient, lazy, 42 year old line in the sand with lots of tractors (and drivers) wearing out and lots born or built after. Consider the London/Brighton car run as a parallel where the dwindling, lucky few prop up a tradition and being overtaken in comfort and safety. Will pre-Q be preserved in aspic with several new layers of paint?
