Fitting Avadex spreader to rolls.

This winter i hope to fit a recently purchased APV PS 300 seeder to our FarmForce 8m rolls with the intention of using it to apply Avadex granules or maybe slug pellets whilst we are rolling.
Has any one done similar, and have any tips please?
The fan is hydraulically driven and I anticipate mounting the hopper on the drawbar to keep refilling easier and avoid the risk of damage when folding etc.
I anticipate using all 8 outlets at 1m spacing, does that sound ok?

We are planning to mount our Outcast on the 12m Simba this winter for slug pellets, anyone done this?

Going to move the axle so that we can fit super singles for roadwork as well.

Any tips to Andrew might help with ours too!

I would go 16 outlets but check the apv will meter avadex and you have the correct rotor as it rare stuff!! Mount the hopper as you say off the drawbar but then cantilever it over the back of the frame have a look on the Opico website they have photos of one fitted to a set of there rolls that fold in a similar manner. If it’s on a spider wheel you’ll need a small ram to lift it in and out of work. And mount it under the hopper at the back.

Andrew,
Have a techneat on our rolls, cracking job but the techneat applicator is a bit troublesome
Got any pics please Derek?
Alistair, Have had a word with KRM who used to be the agents, and they recommend not using Y pieces if possible as its a job to get an even split of granules on either side. They said 1m spacing would be better than the 1.5m that Kuhn Aero and Horstine often have? They had no issues with using the machine for Avadex, particularly as it meters individually to each outlet, and mine has the hydraulic fan anyway. Ours has radar and electric shutoff so easy to use i hope.

Nice one unfortunately I don’t have any photos of them anymore but KRM do of a apv I fitted to some farmforce rolls that used to be on their website so they may be able to track it down for you. But you come off the drawbar and then up and over the back so when folded up going down the road the hopper is right out the back and when unfolded in work is over the centre section. Sounds like best avoiding the y pieces to double up the outlets just may need to set them a little higher to get a good spread

Better for the slug pellets too - they will last longer in wet weather if they aren't buried in the soil. Mine were only mounted on the front of the roll gangs because I wanted to do grass & cover crop seed with it.

Having looked at:
https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/slug-peleter-avadex-on-he-va-rolls.243346/

the next argument is do you fit the spreader plates to drop the granules in front or behind the rollers?

I'd definitely suggest behind. Or you will bury some of the granules under squashed clods and they won't work as well as if left on the surface.

Been there, tried it and got the T-shirt!
I thought the granules worked by vapour action, not sealing the surface like a spray ?
Was thinking of fitting an avadex applicator on the drill, to be followed by rolls most of the time. Our neighbours have done this and it seems to work well enough. At least if you can't roll ,the jobs done as the drill leaves the field, with all this October drilling we're due a year where nothing gets rolled at all.
Whichever machine avadex goes on with , strong winds must affect accuracy of application, although I can't see many people doing a tray test for it !
