Wondering what people think is the best option.
I'm re-making an office ceiling for a friend. The office is built inside a warehouse, basically standard stud and plasterboard construction with it's own ceiling, The original "designers" and I use that term loosely, made the ceiling of 2x2 on 600 centres, then added various bits inside including a post to try and hold it up.
I have put up (above the ceiling) 8x2's on 600 centres running at right angles to the original 2x2's, fixed to the wall plates at either end and also with a heavy bracket to the middle 2x2. I had a cunning plan to run a string line inside the office along each new rafter and put honking great screws up the way. However, I am missing the rafters off and own and have to go up and down the ladder checking. So plan B is to fix it from above where I can be sure to hit the junction of every 2x2 and the new rafters.
So I am planning to use heavy angle brackets, but wondered how they compare to running metal strapping over each rafter, and along the 2x2, and up the next rafter. Once I get this done I don't want to have to go back up.
Thanks for reading and any advice.
