Sometimes the WAS can be a bit difficult to fit due to location of mudguards etc. We don't generally see any issues with not having it fitted and that's mainly due to the twin GNSS antennas.
One is giving a position and the other a direction of travel, so they can quickly calculate if the machine is going to be off the line at all.

Agreed that dual antenna heading helps a lot, specifically for simple AB-lines (that one should favour anyway). It "fails" in some scenarios e.g. if the tractor does not steer well to the direction front wheels are pointing.

Anyone know if any of the spare plugs/connectors on the FJD wiring harness or ports on control box can accept/ or be provisioned to switch on the ”RECORD” (worked area) automatically, as opposed to having to press the Record button on the screen manually. I was hoping the hitch up/down signal from the ISO port on tractor could be hooked up somewhere to toggle the record function on and off.

Be great, wouldn't it. Heck the basic kit I played with 20 years ago used a simple on/off switch operated by the linkage for this.

The complete lack of detail is a frustration at times. Just have to wait on a video... or one of the guys here!

Had a “customer input” vid call with FJD marketing dept. today. Strongly emphasized Headland tracking and hitch position “worked area” record toggle. They assured they are aware how important these features are to users and are working on it.

Brilliant to hear!! :)

I would love to see Google maps be incorporated as with various Android apps, such as Fieldbee...

Yeah Maps would be nice but given the choice my priority would be headland steer so my headland drill lines don’t look like a dogs pee in the snow.

Troubleshooting advice warning!!!!!

I turned on my unit 2 days ago after not using it for several weeks, and was getting very grumpy as I could not get an NTRIP RTK fix fro my drilling job.

Lots of head scratching went on... tried reconfiguring the RTK login, and also a 2nd base site as the 1st would not connect.

Is it software, is it hardware, is it the RTK base?.

Checked cables, checked configuration etc etc.checked RTK Base output, etc etc All appeared OK.

Got very stressed and got on with the drilling... by hand and eye :) Had another fiddle during tea break and gave up... again.

Last night I had a spark of brilliance sanity... check the 4G, Steve. FJD's 4G icon reported OK, but drops out after 10mins. Reboot and comes on again. Hmmmmmmm. Weird stuff here alright...

Then drinking a brew of tea, a lightbulb moment.... Check the PAYG 4G is valid..... Login to teh website....

Whoops!! 10 quid credit had somehow expired and not had a warning email. What a tit....

A tenner later via Paypal, Job sorted...

Why do I always look for the worst case scenarion when troubleshooting???? :ROFLMAO:

Now I was at the exact same shyte this afternoon, drove the tractor over next to the guy in the farm cottage wifi range and upgraded the operating software on the FJD then installed the U turn software/auth codes. Drove to a field to try it out but couldn’t load up saved tasks coz my PAYG had run out ( had full RTK from the base station) £20 via Paypal fixed my “problem” !!

I tried ntrip with a pay as you go sim for one year and went pay monthly after that, probably not the cheapest option, but is nice to have one less issue like that.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.

Two of these champions are Malcom Downey, retired principal inspector for the Agri/Food team in HSENI and Harry Sinclair, current chair of the Farm Safety Partnership and former president of the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).

Improving farm safety is the key aim of HSENI’s and the FSP’s work and...
