flail mower for 100hp

I need a flail mower for a 100hp tractor on 540 only. Its for pretty rough ground, lots of bracken/bramble/15mm whips but improving and was all done last year. has to be no bigger than 8ft due to access. Would do no more than 150 acres a year. I have never bought one new and have no brand ideas or loyalty. As always dont want to spend a fortune but want value for money/longevity. What would you do? brand, new/second hand?

I have been looking at things like these: (thinking warrenty/no wear)

I’m in kinda the same situation, having done a lot of mowing with a rotary on very rough ground I tend to always downgrade my HP to cover myself if it ever gets bogged down both in soft ground or heavy rushes.

If it’s 100, minus say 20, so aim for a comfortable 80hp to keep you moving :).

The stark needs 90hp minimum, del morino 80-120, the EFGC looks a bit too chinesium.
For the price the Alpha looks tempting, I was considering they’re 2m version 2.8k or picking up a old and abused made in the EU flail for almost the same money.

If you would like something very well made and are especially good at drive line manaructure, either a Maschio Tigra topper or a Buffalo push pull . Double skinned , very heavy duty roller & wide heavy flails.

will deal with most things and very reliable.
Hydraulic Side shift available too .

Thanks guys, I will look at those options in more detail. I have no desire for side shift, I think I want simple and solid as possible. Land is steep but driveable, but rough with ant hills, ruts in places. (rented land I'm trying to improve)

By chance there is 2012 Muthing MUH 200 very locally just popped up for £1800. Looks a bit untidy but apparently functions well.

Does that sound about right to those in the know?

Knives on it, instead of hammer flails make it far easier to drive, and make a far better job of chopping scrub

I've a 2.55m model that is easy to drive with 100hp

It also does s very tidy job of grassland at up to 12mph?

It's not cheap if it's untidy. But not dear either. Make sure you see it run up. Any hint of vibration and walk away

Thanks for the advice Dave, it's very much appreciated. Within last few years it has had (apparently, although private seller seems very genuine) new rotar, blades and bearings in rear roller. Would that cause concern or expected maintenance levels?

Those repairs do suggest that someone has hit something big and/or hard with it, so one would have to wonder if the gearbox and drive lines took a hammering as well. And the other thought is having spent all that money on it, why are they selling it? Surely they should want to keep it and get some value back? Or are they just wanting a dog off their hands?
