Flat plate to shaft?

Building a small machine that will have a little shaft driven by a hydraulic motor. Shaft will go through 2 bearings, and at the end will be a flat plate, which will turn with the shaft.

How is best to attach the plate to the shaft?? A flange of some sort bolted to the plate? Any other connection device?

How fast are you spinning? You could get the plate laser cut with holes in correct place for a Fenner bolt on hub.

Next question, is there places you can buy shafts with a keyed end on each end to size? Eg a 200mm long 25mm shaft with keyway each end?

Do you have a local hydraulic firm that build cylinders? They are usually a good bet for machining. You could also buy keyed shaft and cut to length if you can’t find anyone to machine it?

I'd get a taper lock sprocket. The centre will be cast iron but the sprocket will be steel which you can play about with as you wish

Had a look but hard to find taper lock sprockets of any decent size? Most seem a diameter just bigger than the taper?
