I fear the 1st hot dry week we get will see the Cabbage Stem Flea barstewards return in large number.

That’s my fear too. A bit of shot holing in places but not enough to even consider treating.

The flea beetle season is not over yet. Bank holiday was just the start of it last year.

Slug numbers low but the wet weather has meant one post drilling dose wasn’t enough on cloddy seedbeds behind the subsoiler where we weren’t able to roll.

Slug numbers definitely not low here! Entire crop been wiped out this week!

Any body seeing signs of slugs yet? Must be plenty of them around. I’ve noticed a little bit of damage yesterday so will get some pellets on ASAP.
Only been drilled 10 days and just waiting for a dose of digestate to go on.

I planted some 10 days ago and it has all been eaten by slugs before it could come up. 2kg acre seed rate too.

All it does is f**king rain

Why do you think this is? I thought that slugs were supposed to decline a lot in long term no till? Or are these fields that you had spuds on recently?

Is the combid stuff up yet? I find it comes up and gets away better but the subsoiled stuff overtakes it in the spring.

My latest drilled after spring barley (I pushed it past my cut off date) is getting eaten by slugs and flea beetle. About 30ha worth. The other 250ha is drilled earlier is fine.

Drove past a field of OSR 10 days ago and thought how well it had come, drove past last night and I don’t think it’s moved
We knew it was coming. I’ve had a shot at doing some and some is looking very good drilled on the 18th. Then some just coming through now. Pressure isn’t what it was last year yet. Let’s hope i don’t regret saying that!
