A lot of recent grazing reported by my agronomist, especially in crops sown into bare soil. Looks like they are migrating north...

Crops sown into bare soil are looking the best here

On our later drilled osr we can easily find csfb damage where we shallow lined the headlands and in a few bare patches where there was no stubble due to flooding , the rest of the fields that wee in touched and just drilled straight into the stubble there is hardly any damage .

That was the exception rather than the norm. Hardest nibbled are the crops on bare soil. Little trouble on ones sown into stubble so far.

Got rec. through this morning to spray as soon as chemical arrives. Drilled 14 days ago into barley stubble. Has been struggling since it emerged for some reason and not really growing away. Rape has been grown on that farm for several years now. My own at home on 'virgin' land is up and away after seven days.

2 years ago I had a block that got to cotyledon stage this week and then got hit and disappeared in 3 days
redrilled and lost that too
next door 500 acres of rape the previous season

not now growing it again till no rape for 5 miles

local bee farmer has round that the last couple of year not muck rape honey produced
this could be because flea beetle larvae reduce the flower numbers

if there is no rape the biggest losers will be the the wild pollen and nector feeders because they will have no crops to feed in March and April before beans flower

Most of mine drilled between 18th to 25th getting away well, definitely a migration this week but not the numbers We’ve seen in the Last few years
I did get greedy and put another 30ha in last Saturday which is emerging into the migration and hot weather, felt it was worth a punt at the time but might be a waste of time !!
