Fleck Vs Monty.

So what fleck semen are people using. Half our herd will be half fleck X to a broad range of B&W cows. No idea of the fleck genetics other than they where bought ofof uksiresdirect. We used 50 straws of haribo in the summer, start serving again in Jan. Herdsman wants to use some more haribo, which makes sense in keeping the breeding simple. Just wondering what other proven bulls people have used.

1st fleck cross calf born today and it’s by haribo.

Haribo is a good choice of bull from the Flecks.
Have both flecks and montys here.
Montys are high yielding but i found the bags dont hold up so well and find myself culling for deep udders. Feet are good despite what i hear. Some can be kicky in the parlour. Get a great cull cow at the end.
Flecks are smaller, beefier and more docile. Udders have been variable but some good ones by Haribo.
Using only Flecks now, time will tell which i prefer.

One guy I know has mainly Monty x cows and uses FKV and Monty bulls on them says he'll get the same milk out of his FKV x Monty as he'll get out of a 3/4 Monty and the bulls will be averaging a grade better.

He's not dropping Monty but he says they're getting too frail and fine to be a dual purpose cow on their own.
