Flock How to work this ???

Me and cousin now going grow flock together but will be 75% majority my flock until get more land.
We both want to own are own individual ewes.
Just couple questions I have cph number and flock number he has nothing.
I'm guessing he just needs get his own flock number? As cph will be the same as mine as there going to be kept as one flock??
Cheers

Not sure in England but guess same as here (Scotland)
The flock number stays with the farm, lambs born on that holding wear that flock number no matter who they belong to.

Sorry to hijack @Benn but another similar related question here to yours which came up this evening. I have access to a block about 24 acres split into approx a 12 and 3 4acres. I have used the 3 4 acres as it's better grass and the larger block is a bit of a mess and have not needed it yet. Have access all year and just down the road - comes under my normal cph.

Question is - similar to @Benn, another young chap (have not found out details yet) has asked to use the bit I'm not using. Other than keeping the sheep separate - disease etc is there any reason he cannot use that parcel with his own cph and I use the adjoining bit under my own? Just thought if got on OK it could get them started if not already and they can make use of it and maybe able to check each others stock if away etc.

Did think about that but I would prefer to keep ewes and flock legally seperate in each other's names as are income is going to be kept separate and never know what future will hold.
Out goings are going be split % wise.
Basically
we want run Llyen flock together but were both going down a differnt route for income.boxed lamb ,breeding ewes and selling dw

Can't see it being a problem. Sounds similar to some of the farms let as grass parks ie one CPH holding with several occupying flocks / herds.

Yes, but I don't think you can have separate flock numbers. Just tag the sheep with different colours as suggested above???

I think it will work like using common grazing for the main part, but he'd need a separate "holding" to apply for his own flock number I think.

But you can have two holdings on the same bit of owned land?

Get a bit confused with this as on one farm we rent ground, a number of us would use the farm with different species of stock but having our own cph.

So presumably they could separate the land and have a holding number and flock number each? But the flocks would have to be kept separate?

I looked into this previously.

Basically each holding has a CPH and also an associated flock number. ie these are linked to the farm, not the business or stock owner.

Lambs born on a holding need to be tagged with the associated flock number.

If @Benn and his cousin each had separate holdings but all their lambs were born on the same holding then all lambs would have same flock number

@Benn just keep things simple. One holding number, one flock number and minimal movement paperwork. You can keep a private record of who's sheep belong to who and, if you tag all lambs at birth, can easily keep a record of those too, if you so wish. Ministry don't need to know anything about the arrangement, if they are all run together.

its always useful to have two holding numbers , even if its a half acre paddock , ;) makes movements a lot easier , for records and movements having somewhere (quarantine) to bring new sheep on to , or return from sale . wont require any work or maintenance after set up ,can be put under land under same management for use , no need for aml just keep a record in a book in cab of what moves through holding .

You can have two CPH numbers and two flock numbers for exactly the same ground. I have this for my dad's farm. The stupid thing is if he were to buy stock from me, which are on the same farm, possibly running together, then he will be under the 6 day rule.

You used to have to ring up and get a temporary CPH for it. I think now you should be covered by your own number for any ground within 10 miles of your holding. Not sure on that though.
