it was 1 man. ONE

Or is that what they claimed for on headage payments? But actually they had 5000 and the inspector would see the same sheep twice as the workers would move them around the farm while the inspector went in for dinner?
Probably also the sort of place where the only tool they had for lambing was a rifle to shoot problem ewes and shoot the smallest twin lamb so everything had a single?

Don't be silly. They wouldn't waste a bullet in a small lamb when there is a dyke nearby.

probably!

So who produces the most lamb then? None bought in! As I know someone who does 12,000 stores yet only lambs 200 ewes.
He must either have a wedge of cash or a huge overdraft!
There's a few farmers near me fattening 2000 stores each winter.
Biggest flock is 4000, expanding to 5000. I think the average size will be 250 on these lowlands

He's well past retirement actually! He's been doing it for years and years, cattle too. He used to do far more lambs, over 20k yet only in the last 18months has bought a mobile handling system..

Must be a hell of a farmer. Be great to have a drink and a chat with him one night.
