Hi there, reading these threads regarding the flooding ( up North and previously in the West country) is quite depressing and leads me to think...can we, TFF members do more to support other members in times like these? Some farmers must be in an awful state not knowing which way is up at the moment.
My thoughts are these: could the TFF own some items of machinery etc that could be lent either for free or at cost to those most in need? There was a great need for grassland aerators following the Somerset flooding. I bet there were those that could not afford to rent/hire one of these machines let a lone buy. A weeks free loan to a struggling farmer may make all the difference both physically and mentally.
Also as other example from me being a non farmer, I read that some folk had sheep and cattle marooned over stretches of water. Would a boat helped save some stock? Being in the trade I would be willing to either sell at utter cost, or buy at hire out plastic unsinkable boat with an engine if it made the difference?
Just a thought for going into 2016......
Best wishes to all Tractorstant.
