It is a poverty speck tractor and that is very obvious, but it is great for it. A great gutsy engine, a nice simple dyna4 gearbox, a nice simple lift and 100Lpm pump is brilliant for loader work. I only have it a fortnight, but so far so good.
Is it like this in the cab? If it is I was very impressed when I saw one in dealers yard

In wet conditions height is more important than width. Find out how tall tyres you can fit, and then get the widest you want to pay for.
I have 600/55r26,5 on a trailer, and it is far easier to pull in wet going, than another trailer on 710/50r22,5

Yes, mine has a 3rd rear spool, but other than that, the exact same.
The seat doesn't go back as far as I would like and it is a bit more noise than the 6718S or 7720S, but a lovely low spec tractor.
Yes I thought it refreshingly simple and I loved that layout although I only sat on it in dealers yard. I’ve been on 7720s today muck carting and am fed up of the technology I’d much prefer to sit on the 6480.

Yes a 5711M Dyna4 on 540/65r34 Michelin tyres, with 100lpm twin pump, 3 spools and a Quicke X5s loader.
It was ordered last spring before the current round of price increases for €63,500+V

It looks great, like that a lot. Would you say it’s like a modern 390?

back to the OP

Have you looked at trading the trailer for one with 560/65 tyres and decent commercial size brakes. We had a trailer like yours as a spare and the brakes were pathetic/dangerous compared to our other trailers fitted with brakes of the correct size. Remember if you double the weight of a trailer you need double the brake force, if you double the speed you need 4 times the brake force. How many of us run trailers at 50kph that are only designed for 30kph?

Not really, just a Sisu engine would be the only link to valmet/valtra, much more of the tractor can be traced back to the 3000 series MF.
Valtra has a tractor thats the same as that think its an a series but has a valtra cab. I quite fancy a look at the 130hp version massey but never see any in the dealers

Thinking of put our old Marston 14t. grain trailer on flotation tyres. Want radials & seem to recall someone saying that a certain type didn't ride as well as some - would it be a cross-ply & is a 550 wide tyre a cross-ply only ?View attachment 1012304
To go on that trailer it needs to be a 560-45-22•5 nokians will be the best. A 500-60-22•5 will not fit , we have done a few of them before or the new mitas Tyre in 45 is a good Tyre

One of the Stewart's is in the same yard as the Marston - so I'll run the tape over them tomorrow if I get a minute. If they will fit - I think it'll be very tight under the body
Had the tape over both trailer axles :
Marston = 51-1/2”
Stewart = 55”
Also on Marston between the wheels = 9-3/4”
top of tyre to bottom of body = 6-1/2”
Think the 60’s will be too tight a fit & too expensive - as it’s not one of the main grain carts.
