had march sown wheat , flat lift co4 3.5T minimal growing costs, i think we were a bit lucky.

Would be lifted End Nov, most probably tip it in sheds to keep it dry and frost free, was thinking leave bare land until spring rather than leave the crop out

Really struggled with Spring cereals last 2 years, which is a pain, and 2nd Wheats arnt worth drilling

How would it compare to feeding a 15 per cent ration along with average quality silage just got a price for a load delivered 52 pound per ton it a he'll of alot cheaper that a blend and my cheapest ration atm is 270 a ton collected just weighing up how cattle perform on it

Protein is about 8% and DM 15-20%. Remember to factor that in when comparing prices. You are buying a lot of water in each ton.

£52/t sounds pretty good though (for a seller), I might have to lift some sooner rather than later at that.

Yes but when you buying a blend god know what quality grain they are using and maybe ground up barley straw or wheat straw

Do you buy from anyone that won’t give you a full breakdown of ingredients, and an undertaking not to change the formulation?
That’s top of my list for suppliers, before I even consider the price.

£52/t way too dear, if for example the beet is 17% Dry Matter, it works out over £300/t DM, similar to your ration at £270/t (assuming DM 88%ish), but beet needs cleaning, washing, chopping, is very low in protein, low in starch, needs protecting from frost, much more bedding would be needed, etc. Good bought in blend with the silage, or sell the cattle to someone with cheaper feed imo.
