Fodderbeet...decisions.

I’m thinking I might start grazingwithin the next fortnight. Cows and calves on bare pasture being fed maintenance hay, going off milking and knocking he’ll out of fences.
Feed now they really need it although roots about 25%. Overwintering dry cows not soooo problematic.

Are the calves not big enough to wean

Will the beet not grow in to a more useful crop if you can avoid using it now? What about creeping the calves to ease the workload of the cows and keep the calves moving?

Surely it costs the same to get it to this stage as it does to get the other 75%. False economy to graze now.
