Folding 4 meter combi recommendations

Yes double disc. The same coulters as the Horsch pronto. You’ll probably drive past everyday 1 of the fields where the Lemken couldn’t drill but the Horsch did. It was like blue brick clay. The Lemken has large hubs on the discs which reduces the gap for clods to pass through, this then starts bulldozing.
Take it that’s at smeaton

im looking for an option for cultivated headlands after Dale has done in field.
also for a late season wet weather drill for when the plough comes out. Not needed for when conditions are ideal as the Dale with manage.
what’s the best option from any of Brockhills eastern ripon or Russells?
3 or 4m

Currently running. Kuhn PH combi for drilling after Maize/spuds when wet. Also have a Rapid with Grange toolbar which we used for 300ac of Cover crops and 200ac of WW when it was dryer.
The only problem is that the combi is on Suffolk coulters. Does anyone know of any companies who do conversion kits so we can use existing combi but with tines, or discs?

That on roadside at Smeaton was done with Lemken. Cowton fields drive side is where the Lemken wouldn’t work.
You’ll not go wrong with any of those dealers, just depends what brand you want to go with. Think it’s pretty clear which way I’m going.

What's the opinions on a sulky single disc coulter? Oldish design so must work. Like a press wheel on behind so don't have to go in with the rolls
We never seemed to get quite enough pressure on the discs with our old Sulky & the concave shape caused them to ride over the clods in wet conditions. Drilled perfectly in perfect conditions, as so many drills do!

Hi,
I think Devon James means the Cultidisc coulter not the uni disc you describe. We tend to sell uni disc to replace suffolk coulter on light land. The Cultidisc makes up 95% of our UK sales.

We had one on demo 2/3 years ago. Looking to move on from a kuhn/accord. It was a very good combi, powerharrow did a good job, It had the trapeze packer which firmed up a strip in front of the disc coulters which travelled well after drilling. Very even emergence but it was a lot heavier than we were used too which I take it all disc drills are to get the coulter pressure. Also used it to stich grass seed into a mown off ley which worked well. Didn't swap the accord in ultimately, now looking at going for a 3m varderstad and keeping the accord for when it gets wet and we have to plough.

Yes, the Unidisc had its limitations. I reckon our drill was 20 years old and I'm not sure the Cultidisc existed & it does look the part!

that looks impressive ,, whats the down side to cultidisc?? also how do you control your depth?
Downside is weight, capital cost and running cost. Depth is set by altering the pressure and the position of the following rubber press wheel. Four positions which need a spanner and orangutan arms to alter.

No problem putting spring beans 3" deep on clay land which had been worked in the autumn. PH set at 1.5".

Depth is controlled by increasing pressure on the disc and then using the press wheel to regulate... in a wet year, remove press wheel (20 min jobs tops) the just control down pressure to control depth. No parts to maintain on linkage. Excellent trash clearance etc

Bramley seed establishment do the discs

No idea about trailed version tbh but on our third mounted version with front fert tank, best combi on the market if you need fert in a front tank. On 150 spacing here which we get on well with tines on ph are dear but do last well as do the drilling discs never much issue with bearings either easy to calibrate and reasonably easy to empty hopper through bottom or blow out the mushroom into a bag with a special pipe adaptor ( not super fast though) makes a lovely job emergence is always even etc. How many hectares has the drill your looking at done the most expensive things to look at are tine holders which are welded on zirkon 10 but bolted on with the zirkon 12 also rear rollers are expensive to replace if worn ( trailed may be wheels?) bushes on coulter bar are easy enough to replace if worn, bed should be dry no leaks discs do big acres so work out not too bad price wise

I

Ive seen a Lemken trailed combi produce an acceptable job in conditions that would have blocked a vad solid
I suppose the point I was trying to make is why on earth have it trailed as its then its not a drill for all conditions. Can't beat being able to lift it on the arms.
They make a trailed version of our pottinger, looks a bloody awful lumux.

Horsch KR only available in 6m makes a good job of just about any type of land in front of it.
Kuhn PH in them.
