Rubbish.

Spin

If you die as a result of something you are 80. If they want to spin away from the risk they add "with underlying health issues"

There was a disgusting reference in the Times the other day that my Dad read to me classing 80 year olds as "gonners"

My Dad is fitter than many in their late sixties. Rach's Dad is in his 80's and works on the farm every day
Dont know what you blabbing on about . Its efecting older people because they have more health isues and their immune sysem is weaker with age , fact . Italy has one of the oldest populations , one of the reasons they are having more deaths .

I'll be 90 y.o. this year! Think I'll need to go into "self- isolation " - or self preservation - or summat ! :) :( :sneaky: . Does gout and bad knee arthritis count as underlying issues ? Just been checking"Foods to avoid if you have gout" alcohol , shellfish, bacon , turkey, coke etc, veal , liver , salmon, chicken , beef , and some veg - leek , raisins , broccoli , the list goes on ! . Think I'll stick with the gout , especially as the doc prescribed allopurinol , as a remedy . Well yes , I can see that O.K. but if it makes you pee blood -- apparently a well known side effect , then what ?

Are you being deliberately obtuse

Yes the older you are the more vulnerable you are.

Yes if you have underlying medical conditions you are more vulnerable at any age

The media parrot Gov spin each time a new death is announced "with underlyong medical conditions"; this wasn't always the case in Italy and I am darned sure it isn't the case here

No but it looks very likely that all country's with the exception of Russia possible will close down and I think it will be more like 6 months!

Quite clearly there is another agenda at play here and it isn't about saving life's.
I agree 100%, it was never about saving lives; quite the opposite.
It's war, but not as we know it, and it will do until there is one

Wake up call for the many... Hmm, I wouldn't put it past the Vegan twunts to put some schpeel together showing it to be farmers to blame...
In a round about way..... how many BIG cities would there be, without farmers supplying the ingredients?

Sure, everyone thinks they're too busy to grow a decent vege garden, but are they? Are they really?

The world's never been a better place to bring a new generation of educated fools up in, half can reboot your car's ECU through the tailpipe but can't eat without a credit card at hand - "food security" my balls

This is convenience security, little to do with food, the main things under threat are the "right" to travel wherever takes your fancy and the "right" to eat food you never grew. It bears an uncanny resemblance to your right to surrender firearms you never shot anyone with

i think this will be the biggest shock / lifestyle impact change to Mr average UK since WW2

I agree, I also think it will change the way people work / live from now on. Many businesses will question why they have as many staff as they do. Home working will become the norm as many office based businesses realise that they can manage with offices half the size. I definitely wouldn’t want to be sitting on a portfolio of commercial office space now. Mind you my pension is in free fall.

Actually, @Clive and I met with some of the supermarkets this week. We were very heartened by what they had to say. They do have ideas and plans to help make things better for farmers.

So do tell what an internet forum talks about when it meets a supermarket? Are you going to start putting meat and veg onto the marketplace for them?

Not about saving lives, its about causing an economic depression like the 30's and taking away people's liberty's/ freedoms, thus why governments across the world have lost the plot and are falling over themselves to shut everything down!

Any shut down will have to be for at least 3+ months.

Funny thing is Russia seems very quiet on what is happening there.

I would say you are exactly wrong.
Gov reaction is, in part, about trying to stop economic depression.

If you can stagger the rate of infection, services remain functional.
But if everyone is sick at once, more vulnerable patients are lost, and critically, you discover whether your system will survive a 20% staff shortage. Research 15 years ago showed ours wouldn't.

It's not a conspiracy....grow up.

For me - I did think for a split second that it may actually be a real good lesson on the back of this, but then I remembered - the fudgetards only have short term memories, so as soon as this is over - they will go right back to buying the 1.99 water impregnated chickens and processed foods unfortunately.

Oh and as for defending yoiur own food stocks, good luck with that as several countries have seen serious harm through food riots. Difficult times ahead because a lot of people only care for their phone and faceache... they will do whatever when the sh!t hits the fan.
Unfortunately they will buy whatever is the cheapest and easiest to cook. We bought some supermarket bacon t’other day and watched is disappear in the grill! Told the missies “that’s why I buy bacon from a friend who rears a few old spots each year”. This is the time for the NFU and the government (if they can find anyone with a ounce of long term common sense) to be promoting “buy safe, buy fresh, buy it from your home shores producers! With all these cookery shows flooding the TV channels you’d have thought people would be able to cook!

Sadly, they would rather pay more on the next ishite, fags, alcohol and have everything convenience based etc than value locally produced food to cook themselves outside of this event. I think we may see a blip in uptake during this pandemic, but as soon as it is declining - the old way will revert back as fast as it came I fear.

No need to shut livestock markets, use them as a market less of a social day out in short term.

Any quarantine/shut down needs to be length of incubation period + infection period+ safety period.

So 14+7+4=25 days?

Personally I don't think even that is necessary if people of sensible and wash hands avoid contact etc.

Piece I have picked up from Kantar,IIRC, is that consumer will spend max 20 mins prep time for food. BUT will wait up to an hour for food to be delivered as long as they dont have to do anything to prep for it.

So it's about time more than anything else.
