Food shortages being kept quiet?

Has the media been told to stop reporting food shortages?

Has anyone else noticed a shortage of food items in restaurants and shops recently? Maybe its just me being stupid.

Not essential by any means! But shortages I have noticed and on my mind are walkers ready salted crisps and diet coke.

Anyone else noticed anything?

Yes. Cant seem to find watermelons, fanta orange, walkers plain crisps. chicken generally seems short unless the shops just had a delivery. Normally buy hovis bread but swapped to warburton's because hovis is never available. Also struggle to find XL eggs.

Seemed plenty of Chips and Battered Sausage in the chippie in Woodhall Spa at 1.55 pm yesterday! Oh and bags of sweets at 10.30 am in Welligore newsagents. Did have a couple of windfall apples later in the day.

Went to a restaurant recently and I think half the drinks we tried to order weren't available. Also my supply of Coke Zero with the weekly groceries has been very intermittent, and grapefruit juice seems to have disappeared this last twelve months.

Many years ago I had a friend who ran an airline company that comprised a plane (single) to the Scottish outer islands. Due to a crisis (can't remember which one) the ferry wasn't running so he was kept busy flying urgent supplies to the islanders. When questioned, he revealed that these "urgent supplies" were almost entirely cigarettes and whisky. So Walkers crisps and coca-cola certainly qualify as urgent supplies and it is a serious matter if we are running out. Shouldn't we be applying to the United Nations or someone for famine relief?

Forgot drinks is another thing or co2. Only 4 beers available at restaurant last night. No draught.

Also staff shortages. No walk ins. Just bookings accepted.

The last few tesco delivered groceries have had there were a fair few items unavailable so they send you something similar, my wife then went to do the shopping to Tesco in person and she had no problem getting any of the things that weren’t previously available with online deliveries, although she did say the shelves were pretty bare, like for instance there was no frozen fruit and other fruits not available but a pile of blueberries with sell by date that day. Frozen chips and fruit juice also hard to get.

Couldn't give a fudge in all honesty. No melons, no carp supermarket bread available, no pepsi or crisps. Wouldn't bother me the slightest.
Not good if you are a walkers potato grower, supply wheat to Cerestar etc.
Local broccoli grower was having issues at the start of the season as the stores were full and product not shifting to the supermarkets.
Primary producers need their products in front of consumers.
