Hi, a question that's been whizzing around the grey cells is...why did Ford create the 600 series for about 6 months with the old Fieco cab rather than go straight from the 1000 series to the 600 series at Q cab time in summer 76? Can't have been a period of testing as the 600 series is essentially the same as what ran before. Any ideas? Simply a time to use up old Fiecos and wings?:scratchhead:

No idea. Only obvious difference l can think of is paper air cleaners on 600 series. Perhaps it was a ploy to boost sales otherwise everyone would have waited until the new cabs came out? I really don’t know.

600's were the start of alternator fitting and exhaust moving away from driver, tractors had a long waiting list in those days remember, and hanging around for the new cab wouldnt be an option.

Yes, I've got the full set of 600's with Fieco and Q cab. Collected from Skinners of Reading on my regular trips to the cattle market with Dad in the 70's!
Brochures I mean sadly not the real things...

Whose actually got a real one rather than a brochure?

My now 88 yr old father bought this 5600 new in Perry's of Athy for £4100 . No puh but does have power steering . Clock hasn't worked since 2950 hrs, many many years ago. Engine rebuilt in 1995. Dp revealed and clutch disc then too. Pressure plate in it since 1981. A lot of work done. See remains of clutch.pedal and steering wheel wear.....

It's not killed now. It's been powerwashing today yesterday as well as the bit of scraping. It cut our own silage with a single chop for 10 years . Then , an Fc80 If for 10 more. Then 5 or 6 more working an FCT 110. Pulls a 14 x 8 trailer on the job now. Spreads a lot of the fertiliser. Main work done by a Zetor 10641, which I am very fond of.
It deserves a rebuild I suppose.
It dissent need one mechanically. Just a power steering pump. Maybe rebuild it own radiator.
Rear wings are shook. Needs paint badly. But where do you start . And where do you finish. Also if you do a proper job on it , is that the end of working it.
It arrived new on the 26 th of February 1976 , nearly 42 years here.
