Cause the first one looks like it's been bodged or never came with the dials etc.
Dials are for lift hight, lift speed, wheelslip and I think draft. Good old tractors, lovely engine

The tractor in the top photo has top link sensing manually controlled hydraulics, and the one in the bottom photo has electrically controlled lower link sensing ones, a system known in Ford/NH speak as Electro link.
They both have the electrically controlled Electro shift gearbox.

talking of which the bottom photo....looks like the button on the nearest gear lever is taped together :scratchhead:

Top one looks completely bodged hydraulics. High/low lever been replaced by something unknown. Hand throttle plastics have been cut out to make it rev higher/go faster.

Bottom the F/R shuttle handle needs replacing £135, the wires often rub through probably why it’s all taped up.

You‘d want the top one to be a fair bit cheaper if the rest of the tractor is like the cab

If you want one of those 40 series get a genuine blue roof version, I think N Reg onwards, they were far more reliable. I thought you were looking for something better than the McCormick? I didn’t see it but if these tractors are better that that it must have been rough! If you could stretch to it a TS would be an even better bet.

There is a possibility that on an L reg there may not be a shuttle dump button. Pre quad mod as it seemed to be known. Quite a lot of 7840 and 7740 with SLE trans seem to have the top link sensing and will be without the additional electric controls.
