Ford 4000 brakes

I’m after abit of advice on a ford 4000 that I am restoring. I noticed the brakes did work but the pedals were very floppy and the brakes would on work abit if you pushed down hard. I have taken them all to bits as seen on photos and I’m just wondering if the best thing to do it to just change the discs and put new springs on the pedal side. I thought the punch rod seemed to be fairly well out of the housing as if the brake was stuck on. I have removed the actuator but it seems to be where it should be. Any help of what best to do would be appreciated.

Now you have it in bits phone a supplier of new parts and check thickness of discs and separator plates and actuator also the housing's could be worn, remember to replace the boots on adjust reod where it comes out of turret's as if these split you will lose your rear end oil.

Do you mind reminding me how these brakes work? When you press the pedal does it tighten to the discs to create friction? Cheers

The brakes on our 4000 are incredible. Stop on a dime(y)

Would like to see more of the restoration if your willing to share
Yes of course I don’t mind. Here are some photos so far.

yes friction but that applies to nearly all types of brake it's the expander that makes the brake work, much like disc brakes on a vehicle if the disc is scored or badly worn then brakes will not be very good..
