Ford 4600 Lift problems after tractor running for a while

Hi All, first post .

I have a Ford 4600 ( Qcab) 1981 and the rear lift is able to lift bales of silage no problem for a while , (lifts up front of tractor ) , but after a while it gets difficult to lift them.

I looked at the forums and some say that the pump is gone as the oil is getting hot and the pump vanes can be worn, so its a change out pump.

However if I press and release on the Spool value under the seat , the lift lifts a bit and i can do that a number of times to lift the bale up fully so that to me looks like the pump is still good enough to lift the bales and its something else.

Does any one have any other suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks

Aidan
