Evening all, does anyone know what the oil flow on a 4600 is like ? I've got one here that does nothing all summer, and wondered if it would be any good on a bale wrapper. Tried a Ford 4000 on the wrapper once and it was useless, turntable was turning REALLY slowly!!! Presume a 4600 would be the same?
Old red David brown was much better at the job

Oil flow for both Fords would only be around 5 gpm. Would maybe be about 10-12 gpm if there is a secondary pump at the back of the engine as well.Think the old Browns were around 7.5 gpm.

As fast as you like if you could rig up a PTO driven pump on her!

Oil flow on a 4600 is a bit better than a 4000 I think it's about 30l/min
Our old 46 would work our lawerence Edwards wrapper quite happily back in the day (y)
Was actually better suited to it than the 10 series which turned it slightly fast even at tickover with the flow control turned to tortoise

Our old 7610 would happily run the KV wrapper all day on tickover at a speed that was plenty fast enough.

The TMs need to have the oil flow turned well down on the mchale or it tries to take off. The Reno on the other hand is hopeless and needs revving just to get to an acceptable speed.

As an aside, having only ever used a wrapper a few times (you dont see that many of them in the fen obviously)...what would be considered the optimum speed to run them at...the KV mounted wrapper we was using was running at just over a full turn every second
