Ford 4610 Restoration

Doing a full restoration on my Ford 4610. Had a few people ask me to post pictures as I go.

Obviously needs a lot of work to get it to any acceptable standard. Engine only ran on 2 cylinders, gearbox fell out of 2nd and 5th gear. PTO doesn't work and it has no 3pt linkage/pickup hitch. And a few other 'issues'

All the pieces of rings and piston

Surprisingly very minimal wear to bores and crank. Block out washed honed and ready to go back in

Valve train all replaced. Turns out the one that wasn't seating was ever so slightly bent

Diesel pump and injectors due to be returned next week, diesel man stripped pump to find it full of rust and sludge and said it was one of the worst he's seen.
Inspected gearbox this week and found a lovely 2 1/2 inch crack underneath so will have to be grooved and built up with weld.
Clutch was always very clunky and noisy, took clutch plate out to find it was bent. Wrong pressure plate fitted too so that explains the lack of working PTO.

Got the engine rebuilt over weekend. Got first coat of paint on block and head. All going well until I cranked it over to start. Got about 4 turns from starter then it decided to call it a day, started smoking and will now only click. Had 3 fully charged batteries on it in the end, checked all connections so looks like starter has given up

And so the problems begin. Spent the last 2 days trying to remove the old loader brackets and rear compressor frame. After a lot of swearing, head scratching and brews I'm down to the last 2 pins. Beginning to run out of options so had to bring out the Stihl. Think I'll have to phone a friend and borrow an Oxy torch, suppose it can't be tight if it's a liquid.

On a positive note the front 'third' of the power-train is done, and the majority of the parts have now finally arrived. On it full time now so hopefully see quicker progress.

Gave the link arms a freshen up

Resealed the top cover and pump

Found the cause of the lack of pressure, safety valve was replaced with normal plug at some point in past so pump was dumping all oil straight to back end

Finally got it back together and working

Hopefully get the cab started in a week or so after getting the body panels sorted and a few other little jobs out of way
