i have a fantastic 655c thats been a great machine, but the rear main pivot pin and bushes are excerssively worn

the job is too big for me to remove the backhoe, and wonder what my options are please as we are in the peak district far away from most repair shops.

Looking at the play, and knowing parts are scarce it might need line boring out and an enlarged pin fitting.. has anyone had this done before please? you see it on gold diggers in alaska but not sure if common in this country?

many thanks dom

You won’t need to physically remove the whole backhoe, if you have a block and tackle and a strong shed then just fully extend the dipper out and the bucket and lay the boom as flat as possible behind the ‘tractor’ and support the front with the block and tackle/chain hoist to drop bottom pin out and lift the top one. You can then jiggle it about to assess if the bushes are worn or have become loose in their locating hole and worn the metal away.

I wouldn’t worry about parts availability either, a machine shop would knock up some bushes and pins for the job or even build up the old pins

Mine is kind of on the to do list aswell

Expanders can work great but they are silly priced! Line boring isn't cheap but if you can find a good person to do it will be the better option and no more expensive IMO i know a good bloke around Gloucester but that probably doesn't help you much.
