Yup mine has since new, esp when given a bit of work, ours has been a very reliable machine despite trying to kill it on a 3.5m power harrow that it seemed to live on for it's early years. The spool valves were the only disappointment, leaking but then thats a Ford/New Holland thing, my T6090's valves leak slightly too. Progress for you
But the more you try to kill them the better they like it

be careful with exchange engines as I remember someone fitting an exchange engine in a digger and it was no good, although the engine was exchanged for another engine which was ok but the digger owner had to remove bad engine at his cost

Ours had an exchange engine, from Ford and has been fine, it was a half engine due to porous block.

as I mentioned before I am going to overhaul engine in my old Dexta and the cost will be in the region of £600 as the crank probably needs grinding and the new liners have to be bored out after fitting , now I know there is big difference between dexta and 7600 engine but I know exactly what is done and you can never be sure with exchange engine

9761hrs - it's barely run in:D
While you're doing the clutch, if it's done a lot of PTO work, I'd put a new ipto hub in the flywheel (you can always put the ipto shaft in later - saves splitting it again to do it in the future).

I’ve only changed the shaft together with the flywheel coupling when both are worn or spun round. The box has to come out to remove the circlip on the end. Have I missed something serious and that the shaft will come out the back somehow?

My County, a mid 70's 764 was a 7600 base. It had done 7000+ hours and was becoming a bad starter needing much blow-torch heat on the inlet manifold. I had the engine hauled out & a complete rebuild with liners, a new clutch & anything else that needed doing at the time. These people did the work https://www.jfsales.co.uk/used-tractors. It is in another persons hands now but still running perfectly 15 years on since the rebuild.
It's worth going to a competent rebuilder to get a proper job done IMO.

15 hp less than the 7600 would be originally ;)
7740 engine would be the boy (y)

Well you might aswell fit the 7.5ltr 6 cyl and be done with it then!!!

Powerstar swap are not that straight forward though!! Battery tray wont fit without using original inlet manifold, the injector pipes will then not pass said manifold!! Injector pump needs a live ignition feed to stop solenoid, front pulley and water pump will need swapping over and just as you think you’re done the 2wd sump wont clear the balancer!! Oh, and the helix gears on the powerstar crank are cut differently to the original therefore the original balancer won’t fit!!! If you go for the 6 cyl the balancer wont be an issue but a 7810 inlet manifold will be needed and the 6 cyl timing gears are different and therefore wont match up with the powersteering pump!!!!

I haven't done one for a long time but I seem to think we pulled it out through the 4 stud plate (above the pto shaft) on the back casting.
You've got me thinking now - I'll have a look in the book if I remember in the morning.

We did a 7700 once that was a Moxy conversion, no front axle etc just a pivot behind rear axle and a great big axle driven dump truck. It was driven by the pto shaft in ground speed. With that one we had to remove engine etc then the two grat big chassis sections then slide the box out!!!

Have no intention of putting a powerstar block in or even a ribbed one for that matter. We may not overhaul the complete engine but was just thinking whilst it's in bits for the clutch we may as well think/see what needs doing. She does smoke a bit while running ( sits on the Keenan most of the yr ) so uses a little bit of oil. It is too original (other than the 10 series drawbar/puh and series II exhaust) to change and far too much sentimental value. Will get some pictures when I get chance to get it out from behind seed/general clutter in front of it.

It sounds like a my daily hassle of things not fitting

You do right keep it as it is or as much as possible
It tells an honest story once parts get swapped it becomes less

I want shooting for some of the tractors I've been ask to paint
But......

Pictures are highly recommended(y)
