Ford 7740 error code

I have a Ford 7740 sle, have been topping all day no problems, came to leave the field and when changing to hair from tortoise it started beeping and showing E96 on the dash, it will drive but doesn't say what gear it is in and the light has gone from the 1 to 4 bit, however it won't change gear, what wrong with it ? Thank you in advanced

Are you sure it's E96? It doesn't exist in the ws manual. Could it be E46, which is fuse no.12 blown? Bottom left of fuse box.
