Ford 7810 40k gearbox

You would be better with a fastrack, legal, and safe

Had a fazzy before, and wont go back as like my Fendts.

I dont get why people have a bad image about speeds as yes people have there opinions etc but for the start why do tractor makes sell 50k tractors if they not allowed to reach that speed in first place? Also iv not known anyone with a 50k tractor to go the correct speed. At the end of the day if you drive it correctly and i hope i do as i dont have any issues on the road apart idiot car drivers, then a dont see why doing 55k in a well maintained new tractor on a dead straight road is a problem. If went slower then more public will moan about tractors slowing them down plus simply do what other countries do and only sell 40k boxes if its that big problem.

Im not after the 7810 to go that fast, just anything is better than 18mph our old one used to do.

I have a truck that can do 100 mph, should I complain to the manafacturer?
The simple fact is 55km in a tractor isn't legal
And don't blame me I didn't make the law
How many more accidents and deaths before it gets taken seriously?

I'm not having ago at you or noone but I'm sure in other countries they are only allowed to sell 40k tractors so if UK law is 40k then either government needs get a grip and ban all 50k tractors or get strict with speeding. As I was followed by a cop yesterday at 55k and he didn't bother me . When the old rule was 30k I think I'm sure most people did 40k.
As I said people have there own opinion but like I said I only go fast when it's safe. I work for horsey people so I wouldn't be setting a good example if flew by then on horse.
It's mainly these young drivers that get new tractors at work and mainly harvest time that bring the speeding to attention. Can't tar everyone with same brush.

It should be clear to every tractor fan that the late 80s early 90s were the golden years, just before electronics turned machines into moving computers. Although there are many impressive tractors around these days none possess the charisma of the Ford 10 series or Deeres 50/ 55 series SG2s imo. I still know where their are a few 7810s working locally and these tractors are actually appreciating in value, they are a solid investment if cared for.

So it is OK to do 150 mph as my car is capable of? I will of course only do it when it is safe.

I got stuck along with a dozen other motorists behind what I assumed was a lorry pulling a lowloader along the A10 as night was falling the other day...……...we were plodding along at a constant 45- 47mph according to my speedo which may well over read a little bit. When a few cars had finally overtaken the vehicle in question I realized it was a big Fendt 936 tractor belonging to one of the local farms!!! Crikey I knew they were quick, but not that quick:scratchhead:
