I'm thinking of swapping my Case IH 5130 for one of these, don't know a lot about them but there are a couple for sale locally so can any ford experts give me an opinion please and tell me the difference between the SLE and non SLEhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/mye/myebay/watchlisthttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-7840-sle-tractor-for-sale/164530565854?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144

As a confirmed blue nutter.....stick with what you have. Everything is as good or better than 7840 apart from the diff.

Sle box is 16 speed powershift in 2 ranges.
Sl dual power is 12 speed on gear levers with a splitter to take it to 24.

There's nothing for under £10k unless you go and fetch it from Euroland yourself.

This has 4 spools and radar. If it has aircon that's full spec.

There are so many little niggles in these you really need to be buying from someone who hasn't just unloaded it off the boat or taken pics at the auctions.

At least with a dealer there's some backup.

https://robertwraightltd.com/ would be one of the larger dealers.

I like our old 40 series, the cab is a mile better, IMHO, than the Case 51 series. If you read about the two competitors over the years the Case does seem to come out ahead on reliability stakes.

That one appears to be the pre-quad mod without the dump button on the shuttle and therefore not as good as the later model.
Also appears, as you point out, to have an auction number on it. Could be a right basket.

Quick update, came home with this, my son in the pic is 11 and getting on really well with it ( please let's not get into a debate about weather he should be driving)

Yes you can press the button then shift the shuttle from one direction to another. From neutral you need to double click the button. Be careful with dump button and the clutch, particularly when cold, as they can be quite fierce. I have found the bite point of the clutch pedal (which is only an electric potentiometer switch) can vary.
