If it matters.the turbo will be an after fit if the engine is original. It does make a good job of them though. Check out that gearbox as best you can, Make sure all the power shifts are working and the f/r shuttle is smooth with no grinding.
Electrical gremlins mainly caused by bad connections in multiplugs can be an issue.
Is it an early prequad or quadmod(button on the shuttle)? The later ones would be slightly more desirable with the solenoids outside the gearbox making it easier to repair if need be. Needs the front axle centre mounts checked too as running too long without being greased lets the axle tilt which then wears the pinion splines and the drive shaft. Needs jacked up to grease. Oil leaks would be common, especially around the hydraulic pump.

40 series are brilliant tractors, but as with everything depends how its been looked after. high hour SL/SLDP ones can stick in gear (usually 3rd), so take a decent length test drive if possible, although this probably isnt much of an issue for a tub mixer anyway. in my experience the white roof ones are more reliable than the blue roof ones but not sure why that is. having priced up new tractors lately (and getting scared by the prices) ill be looking for a decent 8240/8340/7840/ts115 when funds allow.

I love my 2 40 series tractors. Pretty reliable and fixable when they do throw the odd wobbly.
Plenty of ex main dealer mechanics about to fix the bits you can’t do yourself. The main dealers all love them too due to nostalgia and will bend over backwards to help when needed.

MJ Robinson Tractors are excellent and supplying bits, new and used for 40 series tractors too.

This will calibrate clutch packs C3 and C4. As I remember C1 and C2 are done automatically in use. Think they can be done manually but you need a ''special'' switch plugged in to the wiring harness at the fuse box and have to go into diagnostic mode for that!
Get the transmission up to operating temperature. A bit of use for half an hour or so. Switch off engine, handbrake on and air con, blower etc off. Clutch down and hold both powershift buttons in together.Start engine and CAL should show on display on dash.Release buttons and push the 3 gearshift levers forward. Let clutch up.Tractor should not move.Set revs to 1200rpm. Hold in the upshift button and calibration will begin for C3.You'll see a 3 digit number which will increase one digit every second until the engine revs drops by 50 revs. When the number remains steady, that's it for that clutch pack. Hold in the downshift button then, and the numbers will reappear low and climb as before. When steady, that's C4 calibrated. When done, just stop the engine and when you restart CAL should be off the screen.
BTW,I'd really recommend you get a workshop manual for the 40 series but make sure it covers the early prequad transmission that you have. (It likely will anyway). It's inevitable that error codes will be a part of life...!

Without looking or sitting on the tractor I can't remember but pull the range lever back to neutral and repeat will calibrate the other 2 clutches. Perhaps this only works for quad mod?

Never got it to work on my prequad Pete but the manual says to do that for C1/C2 too.... And 2 pages before it also says it's done automatically.!!

My 83 need the proper calibration with the switch under the dash. Never quite sure what to plug into.
A guy I met recently sent away his 40 series control unit for a refresh/update. He reckoned it improved the transmission function.

I’m sorry @kitigwa that I am not expert enough to be able to help you. But there are plenty of other TFF members on here that can. I am sure they will see you post and get back to you the cause.
Hope you get it sorted soon. It is probably something quite simple.
