Ford 8730 a bit sick

well lads I hope ye all had a good Christmas.

I'm after buying a ford 8730 powershift that's a bit sick. She locked on the road at 40k and when it did so it broke the 2 back cast centres with the shock. It also must have snapped a shaft from the gearbox as it won't drive. When you put it in gear there is no noise from the gearbox just error codes.

Some lads said to me it must have been the brakes locked or the a tooth broke in the diff and jammed it but I took off the 2 half axles and the diff seems fine also the brakes are to,

Any advice on the next step? I'm thinking of taking the cab of and splitting it at the gearbox to check for damage.

Cheers
Cormac

Is it still locked or did it come free?

No she came free after it locked

Is it a powershift? if so did it try to select all gears (or more than 1) at once..ie electrical issue.

It is putting up a lot of error codes alright , which are just short circuits. Good point though, I may look into it further.

Your a brave man as the damage and forces that snapped the wheel's to that degree must have done untold damage elsewhere with stresses that severe.
I'd find a backend off some rusted out wreck.

I know of 2 back ends I can take parts from and a full back end if I need it. I was expecting to find the diff in bits but it's perfect . I keep ye updated anyways . Thanks for the replies

Now now, it's not a John Deere where talking about .

Cormac your in hard luck there , were you only bringing it home after buying it , if so any chance of bringing it back.
No James bought her as is, man I bought it off had the bad luck. In 2 years he owned it, done the engine the minute he bought it, full gearbox rebuild a year later and ten the brakes 2 months ago, and bang this happened.

The driver must have got a fair wee surprise :poop::poop:

It didn't put him threw the windscreen funnily enough

Selected two gears?
Hope you dont mind me saying, give yourself a bit of room to work around the heavier bits, until you get them sitting on the ground. You need somewhere to go ..........

I wouldn't have thought transmission lock up would cause the wheels to split, more likely an impact, no?

Hope its an easy fix, let us know how you get one ........

Amazing how quickly they stop, dad was saying injection pump in 35 went wrong and stopped on road, slid the back wheels
