It came from Bedfordia Farm Machinery. It had been on one of their own farms.I see your JD’s came from Brian Parker, at Brigg I presume ? But did the 8430 artic come from them ?
I presume you acquired it 2nd hand, do you know where it went once you’d finished with it ?
I remember two artics at Barff, and I bet I have a picture somewhere of them, so it could be yours on it. Jez would certainly know, his has a good memory. It came from Bedfordia Farm Machinery. It had been on one of their own farms.
Traded it in, with Brian, for the 4955 (which was 'G' reg). I think when we first started talking about it, it would have been a 4850 but, IIRC, we waited for the 4955 (which superceeded the 4850) 'cos Brian said they were changing the models.
I think Brian sold it to Barff Farm (Glentham). Last time I spoke to Jez about it I reckon he said they'd done it up and re-sprayed it.
Now there’s a blast from the past, they had several customers round Boston back in the early 80’s. Dad used to let them park the spreader and loader in the yard overnight sometimes. Getting a ride in the Big A was a summer highlight for a 10 or 11 year old meSingleton Birch by any chance ?
The South Thoresby quarry did the Boston area. We dealt with SB's quarry at Melton Ross. (Geoff was the spreader driver there). Now there’s a blast from the past, they had several customers round Boston back in the early 80’s. A white haired fella called Vick drove the spreader, and Terry on the CAT loader
Ours was a 8430 which, IIRC, was the smallest of the JD artics. I think it was the same engine as the 4850.I remember two artics at Barff, and I bet I have a picture somewhere of them, so it could be yours on it. Jez would certainly know, his has a good memory.
The first 4955’s I saw were G reg, and the last 4850’s on an F plate.
