Hi all, I've a 1998 7840 NewHolland tractor here.
It was bought new and was a frontline runner until it was 4 years old when it got sent off to have a mounted saw adapted to fit.
In the past 4 years it had only seen a few outings and had just clocked over 7000 hrs.
Because of this we took the decision to remove the saw and are in the process of re-commissioning the tractor to use it for light jobs and as a back up tractor.

Please note that the pictures are of the tractor in its working clothes.
The rims have since been resprayed and the rest of the tractor is getting general tidy up as we speak.
Although as our TM140 is out of action it looks like its first job may be on the slurry pump..

These pictures were taken in 2011.

We are still looking out for a set of clip on mud guards if anyone knows where we might find some.
We are happy to buy out of a scrapyard. Although we have searched the ones local to us we are open to hearing of potential breakers on the mainland.

7740 4WD SLE 3/8/92 £22,500 + vat... no trade in. then a 2WD version 30/10/93 22,000 + vat

And just for comparison, 8830 27/8/93 40,500 + vat

I imagine pre internet days there could have been a chunk more price on tractors in different dealerships ie less comparing going on and maybe even more loyalty. The old man bought two 7740 sl's one in 95 one in 96. Paid for both of them outright.

Different times!

Paid £15k and a low powered 7810 in 1996 for a 7840 SL DP.
I took exactly NO pictures in the 1990's. :(
We had a fleet of 7840 and 2 7740's
Same here. Did much more interesting stuff back then than I do now. But didn't take any pics. No time, and no digital cameras.
HTV Wales did a short film of us harvesting spuds once, thankfully it's disappeared....

Don't think I did too bad then bought 2 7740 4wds although on narrow tyres one was an N reg white roof bought in Nov95 the other was a R reg blue roof and bought in 98 but was a 95 tractor and paid £18000 for the first one and 18500 for the later one they had done approx 700 hrs each sold the M reg for a 8340 which we still have and the R reg tractor had air con both had front mudguards
