Comprehensive list there TT.
Now can you lend me £7k plus haulage?
The list sounds far worse than it is in reality.

Can't lend you the £7k. But if I wasn't so busy this time of year, I'd go see her and if she passes all the tests, buy it, bring her home, fix, repaint and re sell her for £10 - 12K, no problem. Got a list of friends round here that would snap my hand off for it!

Comes from the Fens too. Which to me is a very good home to have her come from.
She's just crying out for some love and an appreciative owner.

5640 Turbo would effectively be a 7740 really, thats all they are, a 56 engine boosted up, not a 6640 as many think.
Never had a 77 but have heard of ones knocking out 140hp after a serious 10mm remap back in the day.

Mate had a L reg 5640 sldp from new, turboed not long after, had nothing in 12k hrs but a 4wd dog clutch and a fuel pump refubrb, was pushing 117 hp on the shaft ? I always thought the 5640 was a smaller capacity engine than the 66-7740 .

I'll verify that HH,just because I happen to have the manual beside me...All 6 40 series have the same bore sizes. The 56 and 78 have the same stroke and the 66,77,82 and 8340 have as well but different to the first two. The 56 is 4390cc,the 66 and 77 are 4987cc,the 78 is 6585cc and the 82/83 are 7480cc.
So all in all the 5640 has less cc than any of them and in original standard guise was rated at 66hp at the shaft.
At 117hp that was 5 more than the 8340 at 112hp. 51hp more from a turbo and fuel tweak is some jump!!

Well every day is a school day!!
I always thought that the 77 was a turboed 56. My mistake!! :banghead::banghead:
Never had a 4 cylinder one though.
117hp out of a 5640 is good going. Hardy engines the Powerstar range.

Just need DB John to come along and start slagging them now!!!!

Off what were the Harris ones off ? I managed to pick a pair for the 76 a few years ago, bigger than the ones on my 7610, the same size as the 8100, 9700 i think ?

Harris, were Harris of Epworth, later platts-Harris, a Ford dealer at Epworth, South Yorkshire. The had their own Foundry and made these cheaper than the Ford ones along with loads of other things like zig-zag harrows on mounted frames.
