Have the new rangers got a different pump on now or are they still using the problem one?

Question is what are they putting on a transit at a recall? ask a dealer, it may be the same and an improved one isnt available so its only worth putting them on mega mile transits until a better one is available.

Friend of mine had a 13 plate 2.2 ranger. It was his fourth and final ranger. Don't think he had the oil pump issue but had quite a few big issues that took weeks to resolve. Think one was a rear diff and the dealer couldn't source the parts for many weeks. He now has a hilux.

Apparently the 2016 model year onwards, I.E. the facelift rangers have modified oil pumps.

But don't quote me. I could be wrong.

Also I understand that the 3.2 engines are affected as well. If mine stays beyond the end of warranty I shall look into getting the oil pump changed.

All companies that don’t stand by the products they sell are best avoided like the plague. If I knew that Ford did not stand by its products I would never have bought one. The next pickup I buy will certainly not be a Ford, not because the oil pump fails but because Ford fails to be both proactive and reactive. For this reason alone nobody should give Ford the time of day. Customers deserve far better and are likely to get better elsewhere.
To be fair Nissan walked away from all their engine resposibilties on the D22 until a segment on watchdog showed the frailties of the engine and Nissan had to react.

Isn't that the point though? Bit like the JD head gasket saga. If a firm sells thousands of units then they are going to get more fails than somebody selling hundreds.

Just goes to show people don't care

If something looks good then people will buy it, especially with the Raptor style grille

Under warranty-so Ford's problem

Cheap pcp makes it popular with ordinary punters

That is why the Ranger is the uk no1 pickup

Another emerging issue on what appears to be 2014 on Rangers is excessive chassis corrosion, with one local pickup rumoured to have been bought back by the garage and replaced by Ford.

I like my 3.2, but if Toyota hadn't replaced the 3.0 Hilux with an under powered 2.4...

Going by the bad reports on these ''premium'' pickups, perhaps the Great Wall Steed wouldn't be so bad after all ?.............
Haven't heard of any mechanical issues on the new Navara yet though...

If he was dealing with the Aberystwyth dealer then they do not do diffs. They are sub-dealers that source their trucks and cars from a main distributing dealer. Certainly the little Ford dealers further south will send rear axles to Days for diff work. I know that Anthony Motors sent their rear axles away to be done.
Ford are very very slow with parts for Ranger. I've mentioned this several times before, although I have yet to need anything but filters myself.

Indeed I had my Ranger serviced at the Felinfach Ford dealer and they didn't have an engine oil filter in stock so just sent it back with the oil only changed. At least they were honest enough not to charge for a non-existent filter like some would have [and have in the past and I caught the barstewards…. BL dealer long gone].

You are correct, my 2016 2.2 has the modified oil pump fitted, asked the question prior to purchase after hearing of the problems with them.

Not Anthony Motors but WR Davies in Newtown I believe. Was 4K cheaper to buy there though I must say my friend what's very underwhelmed by the after sales service and customer care aspect. He was even more unimpressed with Anthony Motors salesmen though. Basically they didn't try and I must admit that's been my impression of them too.
